Sustane Composting Process
Sustane fertilizers are based on aerobically composted turkey litter. The
frequent introduction of oxygen maintains an ideal environment for
microorganisms to decompose the raw organic matter into rich stabilized
humus. This process ensures that any harmful pathogens are destroyed and
that plant nutrients have been chelated.
- Our unique composting process assures a product that is free of viable
pathogens and weed seeds.
- The 6 month composting is monitored weekly for moisture and
temperature, assuring a stable and consistent product.
- Meets Minnesota Department of Transportation specifications for grade
1 compost

Sustane Compost Requirements
- The litter is composted in excess of 150 continuous days with frequent
intervals of introduction of oxygen in order to maintain temperatures
greater than 145° F for no less than 15 days.
- The composting and dehydration processes are sufficient for
inactivation of any potential avian and/or human pathogens which may have
been present in the litter prior to treatment.
- The compost process criteria exceeds Federal US EPA standards
established to achieve P.F.R.P. (Process to Further Remove Pathogens).
- Sustane Natural Fertilizers are allowed for export worldwide by the
USDA-APHIS.
