The Use of Organic Fertilizer: Sustane

By Ian Muir, Ian’s Gardening
Victoria, British Columbia

“When Sustane was first introduced into western Canada, I took little notice. However when a client asked me to use organic fertilizer in their home landscape I thought I’d try it. Three years later I am still using it because it is by far the best fertilizer for use in the garden that I have ever used. It improved the bloom size and stress tolerance of flowering bedding plants. When I place a small amount in the hole before transplanting pansies double in size and Impatiens are larger and more vigorous.

Soil in the garden can also be improved by scattering a handful on the soil before weeding. I have found that soil treated this way will stay loose and hold moisture better. In my own garden I now have looser, rich feeling soil and find more and larger earthworms wherever I have used Sustane.

Further evidence of Suståne’s great qualities was revealed to me when one of my clients had compost that had gone stagnant, it stank. I spread Sustane over the surface and worked it in. I didn’t know if it would do much but thought it was worth a try. And cheaper than having it hauled away. The next week I was surprised to find that the compost had started to work again. So taking the bull by the horns I worked some more Sustane into the surface and dug it in. Then after covering it with a tarp to hold any heat, I left it for a month. When I removed the tarp it was very usable compost.

The micronutrients in organic fertilizers help soil and plants remain healthy. But Sustane has an advantage over organic fertilizers made from oilseeds; it has no foreign seed content that might germinate. Additionally Sustane is clean to handle and stores well. For the last three years I have found that Sustane is very easy to sell to my clients. They like that it is 100% organic and is safe around children and animals that might go into the garden. They have also expressed approval in my awareness of a health environment in their garden.

In closing my experience has shown that feeding the soil rather than just the plant gives better results. And location matched with the plants’ needs will make happy clients with healthy plants. And that’s what I like, satisfied clients.”

4 Fold Increase in Flowers

Jenny Wu, March 2009
Taichung City, Taiwan.

“About middle December of last year, 2008, I planted a flower tree (Tibouchina semidecanda Cogn) in my front yard. I applied Sustane 4-6-4 from the local distributor here in Taichung to nurse my tree. In fact, it was my first time to use Sustane fertilizer and I am so surprised of its effects.

When I brought the flower tree home, it was with about 10 flower buds. After one month of applying Sustane 4-6-4, (I applied 5 grams of Sustane 4-6-4 once per week for four weeks) it was with 40-50 flower buds! And about one week ago, when I was hoeing up weeds, I found earthworms where I did not find any before. Attached is the picture of my flower tree (right). It suffered from huge temperature change and weird rain and similarly light degree typhoon wind one week ago. But now it is blooming again.”
